Default newbie questions

1. Is there a detailed manual available ?
2. Does purchase price cover updates and new versions ? For how long ?
3. Why do I see 2 drives (Physical & C) ?

4. My customer tried to create a dual-boot system with XP and ME using Partition Magic but screwed up the contents of the drive. Only an error message appeared (NTDR ?? missing) or something like that. I attempted repairs using XP's Repair Console. I tried FIXBOOT, FIXMBR & CHKDSK one at a time and none helped. I then re-installed XP without formatting the drive. This allowed me to enter windows and from there I right-clicked on My Computer and chose "Manage" and then "Disk Management". It showed the C drive and another drive without a letter. I could do nothing with this other drive. I downloaded the trial version of Recover My Files and ran a scan. It found tons of audio, video and document files but some of the document files looked scrambled.

How can I just recover the original contents of "My Documents" ?

5. By reinstalling (not formatting) XP, could I have overwritten some of his files ?

6. Last Question: Before I purchase a license, I notice some companies selling Recover My Files cheaper than GetData (up to $15 less), but they don't specify the version number. Are they just selling the license ? (Froogle dot com)

Thanks in advance,
Glenn

Edit: I'm running a full scan on the drive (evaluation mode) and there's no "time remaining" or "percentage complete" indicator. It looks like it could take from 24 to 48 hrs at the rate it's running. Is this normal ? I connected the affected drive through a USB2.0/IDE device to another computer running Recover My Files.
