need help with file recovery - please
i recently purchased an 80g western digital hard drive and installed it on my pent. II/400mhz/win98se machine as drive d: using western digital utility (datalifeguard). i copied all my data from c: drive to this one. (about 7g of data).
after about 2 weeks, the system started hanging and freezing during boot or regular session. western digital says that this could happen because of bios not being upgraded, and that the 32g barrier on the bios may be causing this.
anyway, not nowing this, i reformated my c: drive, and reinstalled win98se on it. i didn't touch the d: drive at all. after installation, the new drive (d
didn't show up on the explorer or "mycomputer". i called western digital and they suggested i install xp. i did. now, under win-xp-pro i can see the drive, but there's no file system information on it. it's jut raw d: drive. i can't open it, or explore it, or anything. my question is, can "recover my file" retrieve my data from this hard drive? even if it doesn't show any file system info? your help will be much appreciated.
