Question Am I doing this right.

So let me give a little background first.

Booted up my PC one morning an got an error "Unmountable boot device". So i whet into recovery console and ran chkdsk /p. This found a couple of errors. I then proceeded to reboot the computer and Win XP started up. But it came up like it was creating a new profile. I then went to see if all my data was still present. (My Documents Folder) It was not.

I checked to see if maybe there was an old profle in the my docs folder with the data but there was not. It seems as if my profile was completely wiped out. All my programs are still installed but most dont work because my profile is gone.

My hard drive is still reporting the same amount of space being used as before the crash. So I installed your program and started scanning the drive.

It has found files some of which are some of which are not. I am running a complete File search to find all the lost files.

My question is it is going incredibly slow is there anything i can do to speed it up. one cluster per secound right. Sometimes it does speed up but mostly at this pace. been scanning for over a week on a 160GB drive. I did get a new drive so that i can run the program from another drive. Still the same issue. I am currently only searching for itunes files right now.

I figure the drive is just toast and is filled with bad sectors. Am i correct in assuming this?

Thanks
