Default Data Recovery

You did the right thing by removing the drive and trying to connect it to another computer as a secondary drive.

When you did this, were you able to hear the drive 'spin up' (ie. the noise it makes when the platters inside the drive are spinning). Were there any other stange noises being made by the drive?

Recover My Files needs Windows to run, so if you can't get the drive connected to a Windows computer then you will not be able to use the software options. It is possible that your drive has mechanical problems, in which case the only solution is to send it to a hardware data recovery company, which can be expensive.

If you have a USB drive enclosure you may like to try connecting the drive when Windows is already running to see what happens. You do not have to see the drive letter, just be able to view the "physical drive" in the recover my files drive selection screen.

If you keep trying these things, I suggest you also make a backup of any important material that it on the other computer.
