I ran the complete format recover and it found two partions. One was a FAT partition, and it contained nothing (just a bunch of [DIRxxxxx] directories). The other one was an NTFS partion, and it was basically just what is currently on the disk. It did not find the files I was looking for.
However, I know they are still on the disk, since some of the types (jpg, text) and even one of the mpegs (that was actually an mpeg) worked (from the previous lost files scan). The NFTS that was found said it had not been accessed since last Februrary, though I know that is not true.
Essentially how this happened is that I started the computer one morning and it ran chkdsk on this drive and lost most of my files ... I was however, able to find the log of what it did in the lost files so I at least have some idea what happened.
For the m2v files, I can send some samples, but they are about 60-100 MB a piece, so I would need an ftp or something to send them to. Most of these files are very large. They shouldn't be too fragmented but you never know... Back in Februrary when I bought this drive they were all dumped fresh from an old 80 GB drive. I have one or two VOB files as well I could send (they are even larger). Hopefully we can get these files back!
