Default .img files

Can RecoverMyFiles scan an .img file of my drive?

Before I heard about RecoverMyFiles, I had used a different program which said I/O errors on my drive, which it said indicates physical damage, which means I should just clone my hard drive, making a .img file.

I'd rather use the .img file with RecoverMyFiles, if possible, rather than risk more physical damage to my drive.

Thanks!!
