Data Recovery
Hi,
When you run a "Format Recover" option the search does not have a lot to do with the actual file type, but relies on finding Windows records for each file. When you searched the camera card it sounds like the Windows records were intact, but when you searched the hard drive they were not.
The answer to your question is yes, there may well still be .avd files on the hard drive. Was this hard drive used to store any other file types? or just .avd files? If there were other file types you could run a Complete Format Recover for the default selected file types and you should also get back the .avd files at the end of the search (look in "folder view" of the results screen).
If .avd files were the only files on the disk then the only other option is to send us some sample .avd files and we may be able to add specific support for this file type. This would mean that during a seach over the disk Recover My Files would be able to identify the .avd files by their header and footer.
