Hi,
Right click on the My Computer icon, and select Manage, then Disk Management.
You should be able to see the problem drive listed as a physical disk with the correct size displayed.
If you can see the drive here then you should be able to recover the files from it.
Follow these instructions to use Recover My Files to run a Complete Format Recover search:

With the software in evaluation mode, you will be able tell from the search results if the program has found your files, as you will be able to click on them and preview them.
If you find what you are looking for, then you can purchase an activation key and save the files to your C: drive or another drive.
