How big was the file that you put on your 2gb drive?
Download and install Explorer View for Windows Explorer from
http://download.getdata.com/ExplorerView-Setup.exe. It is a file viewer and will view about 300 different file types. It also lets you change the view to HEX, so you will be able to look inside these recovered files and see what their content is - compare them to a working jpeg.
The lowest level search you can run with Recover My Files is a "Complete File Search" on the physical drive. Try this and see if you get any photos back - they will not have their original names.
