Yes, you need to get it to the point where you can preview the files again. Then save what you can as fast as you can.

It is possible that this type of problem could be caused by a bad connection. You may like to experiment with connecting the drive to your pc using an alternate method - eg. different USB port, different USB cable etc.

Try eliminating things from the equation and it may lead you to the answer as to why your drive is not recognized.
