Inside a JPEG there are actually two images, a thumb nail, and the full size image. That is why you can see the thumbnail OK, but not the image.
The image has been damaged, which is usually caused by the deleted file being partially overwritten by other data. How were these files lost? What sort of media were they recovered from? Do the files have their original file names? or do they start with "Recovered..."? What type of search did you run to find them?

Thank you for your reply.
It's very sad to hear it. I have used Recover my files software and also I have use R-studio. I have run Full complete scan to recover the files. And, yes, most of the files with the name "recovered" and the names of most of the files had been change and recovered in different folder. Most my photos were on external hard drive, and I deleted them by accident. I didn't use that drive since that. I have run the recover software on the same day and got the above-mentioned results. I don't understand though why these files are "lost" but not "deleted"? Please advise if there is any way to restore them since most f them are very valuable to me. THANK YOU! |

Try running a Complete Format Recover. Search the physical drive and search for only the default selected file types. When the search has finished, look in Folder View of the results screen for your recovered files.

Hi,
After running full format scan I just recovered few more pics. The rest are still in the condition. Is it any way to ressurect those pics or at this point I can consider them gone forever ?Is it any way to recover from the thumbnail image to the full one? I just don't understand why after simple deletion most of the files had been gone from the external drive. I didn't even use that drive after file deletion 1 day ago. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you! |

Try this....
Start Recover My Files, close down the first wizard window, and click on the OPTIONS button. In the ADANVED tab, change the search level to "sector". Now click START SEARCH and run a "Complete File Search" of the "physcical drive" for the specific file types (eg. jpeg). Because you are running at a sector level (instead of the default cluster lever) the search will take longer - but it is possible that you may recover some more files this way.
