Default Cannot open most mpeg2 files

Using Recover My Files I was able to recover most of my photo files. About 75% of my avi files but only a few of the 300 or so mpeg 2 files. When I try to open them they jam up the player, Windows media or Real Player. I have downloaded every codec I could find. I don't think its a codec problem. Are these files damaged? Can they be fixed?

Did the files that you recovered have their original names? Or were they called "Recovered....."?

The files were probably fragmented on your disk (meaning they were not stored as continuous files, but cut up into fragments and stored in different parts of the disk).

How were the files lost? What type of search did you run to get them back?

Default Can't open mpegs

I recovered both ways getting the original file name and the "recovered name". My hard drive went bad and I had to put a new one in. There were two partitions on the bad hard drive, the first partition (local C) had windows and the second partition (local E) had all the files. I bought a new hard drive and temporarily put the bad one in the computer as a slave to recover the files. The names are all there but no mater which way I try to recover I get the same results. I got all the pictures back okay. Most avi are okay, but the mpeg1 video and mp3 music files do not work. Out of about 200 mpeg1 files only about 25 are playing. No Mp3 music files will play, I have about 500 songs in the Mp3.

Send some samples to me and I will have a look at the file content.

Thank you.

I think your old hard drive was damaged physically and your mp3 files were fragement.

you can try " recover from raw choice".If you fail, try another data recovery software.
