Question Please Help!!

Last week my computer at work crashed. Before I had a chance to look it over, my sister called Dell and they had her reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows. Well the last 5 years of work files were gone and I don't look forward to the long hours of putting all that data back into the computer..I know, I should have backed up my work but I never did. I've run recover my files and it looks like alot of my files can be saved but sometimes it takes me a while to figure things out. My question is, I understand that I need to save my files to another drive, then when that is completed, copy them over to my harddrive? Am I correct so far? Will these files go back to where they were? I'm not sure what to do or where to put them when I copy them...am I making any sense Could someone explain to me exactly what to do once the recovery is finished? TIA

Default data recovery

Yes, you are correct.

You need to run a Complete Format Recover search on your drive. Search only for the default selected files types.

At the end of the search look in Folder View of the Recover My Files results screen to find your old files. When you save files to another drive they will save with the folder structure you see here. Once you have saved everthing, you can move then move the folders or individual files back to your formatted drive. Where you put them is up to you.

Your software recovered 78,768 files (impressive) which is probably all of them. But the last line in the above quote scares the beegees out of me? When they get copied back to the hard drive will they need to be tucked into there respective holes one by one or is there a program that will do ittttttttt. If it's left up to me where to guess where enerything goes I need to hire a pro.
Any input would be benifical and my check will be in the mail so to speak.

Default Data Recovery

When you go into Folder View of the Recover My Files results screen you should see the full file and folder structure. If you select a folder to be saved (by putting a tick next to it) the full file and folder structure inside that folder will also be saved. So it should just be a matter of moving the folders back to the drive once you are confident that you have saved everything that you need.

Recover My Files is a tool which is designed to get user created files back - eg. documents, pictures, music etc. It is not really meant to recovery fully installed programs. Whilst it will do this, it is always best to reninstall a program from the original installation file to make sure it is installed 100% correctly and will be problem free in the future.
