Smile Thank you for RMF

Hi there,

Quite often in forums you see the questions, the replies but rarely the feedback on how things turned out.

Quickish story of my problems and solution with RMF.

1. The old family PC has two drives the boot drive of which had to be recovered with Microsoft's FixBoot programme last Christmas. So to avoid being in that worrying position again I back the user data up separately using Nero BackItUp from Download.com Shortly after the drive won't boot again but this time FixBoot won't work. No problem I've got the Nero backups as well as having done a copy to my Brother's old HP which he's replaced with a Mac. I have also done a backup to a new NAS drive.

So effectively the data is in four places:

1. Original 40Gb drive even though I can't get to the data, it's probably still there and when I refresh the old PC using the other drive as the boot disc it'll probably see the drive and data.

2. The Nero backups

3. The backup copy on my Brother's old machine

4. The backup on the NAS drive

So I refresh my Brother's old machine with a fresh install of Windows and Ubuntu Linux and lose that option - no problem as I still have Nero and the NAS.

I restore one of the drives from the Nero backup but there's something wrong with the other Nero backup and of course it's the bigger of the two over 14 CDs with photos, Outlook the lot!

Then the NAS drive fails and the UK distributor give me the runaround after saying they can recover the data - they can't / don't want to.

So the only chance I have is the original drive and possibily the Nero backup with its proprietary data format.

I'm having to consider spending c£500 - 1000 with a pro data recovery company and even get two quotes. I also find a local guy for £149.

Enter Restore My Files at c£40 + VAT!

My drive isn't seen as a logical drive by the PC so I was amazed that RMF can see this physical drive that electrically of course is fine.

Over the course of this weekend I've recovered all of my photos - my main concern, along with everything else.

Thank you for a great piece of software.
