You can run a "Complete File Search" for specific file types. This will find the files by their unique structure, i.e. their header, content and footer. The original file names will not be found and the files will start with the name "Recovered....".

I realised where the problem lies now.

I did a complete file search as you said. Say i just search for BMP files.

I found 10 bmp files. And on the preview i can see the pictures. All with various file sizes.

However, once i selected one of the file and click "save as.." to location, the file became corrupted. It can't be shown on preview, file size became 1kb.

And on the location i saved it to, it is corrupted as well. The other 9 not recovered yet still remains previewable.

So what is the reason for not being able to recover the file when it is previewable? Please advise me here.

I think you are using a pirate version which does not save files properly. If this is the case please do not take our valuable time away from customers who purchase the program and need our assistance.
