I am not sure I exactly understand your situation.
You have 1 physical hard drive in your computer? How many drive letters were on this drive? Were all drive letters lost? If you only have one drive it may be a risk to start trying to save files back to it and the last thing you want to do is overwrite and destroy files that you have just found. Do you have a CD burner or DVD burner?

thanx for your support.. i have got only one one drive...it was divided into 3 partitions but totally i had around 50 GB of free space in my drive..i have a dvd burner but it'll take time for me to transfer my 80 GB data using 4.7 GB disks..
one important thing... i've got another 160GB HD..but it is a RAW HD..windows was unable to format the HD... it would be enough if u tell me how to format the hard drive..i will use the HD to recover my data...thank u again for the interest shown..try to reply as soon as possible... |

Have you tried connecting your spare drive and using CONTROL PANEL, MANAGE, DISK MANAGEMENT - to format this drive?
You may want to do this on another machine just to make sure you are formatting the right drive.
