Default Lost Data Query

I have recently deleted a profile on a persons hard drive. The drive was connected to another PC at the time, via a IDE to USB adapter, as I was trying to backup the data onto his new PC. The hard drive has not been written to since I accidentaly deleted his profile but when I run file recovery software on his hard drive I cannot recover the lost data. Since the files where deleted when the hard drive was attached to my PC does the software need to run on my machine while the drive is connected via the adapter?
Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

The files should be able to be recovered on the drive from which they were deleted. Did you try a Complete File Search for the specific deleted file types?

Hi, thanks for your response. The problem is that everything that the user had stored under his profile is not showing up as a recoverable file when I scan the disk. I do have the option of sending the drive off to a data recovery company but this is an expensive last resort. I am currently running a program called R-Undelete which displays the previous file structure but when I open the deleted folders they don't seem to contain any files at all.

Try Recover My Files from www.recovermyfiles.com and run a Complete File Search for specific file types that you know were in the profile. Look both in File View and Folder view of the results screen for your files.

Do you know if the documents under this profile were encrypted or password protected.
