i need to recover some files that i've deleted but i dont have an external harddrive or 2 drives on my computer. i was wondering if i partioned my internal harddrive and installed 'recover my files' onto a new partition, would the recovery process interfere with the partition with all my valuable files? any help with this matter would be greatly appriciated, thanks.

It is best not to play around with the drive on which the files were lost as in most cases it will make things worse.

You may like to consider other options like running from CD and saving files to CD. There is more information located here on creating a data recovery cd
