Hello,
I downloaded the RecoverMyFiles software and tried to retreive my files after formating the harddrive. It did work for some files that are unprotected and lots of system files. Before the format, my documents were all saved under "my documents" folder which was protected from other computer users (Win XP Pro feature). All of these files were not recovered. Am I doing something wrong or is it that this software doesn't retreive previously protected files? Thanks, Mike |

Recovering encrypted files can be much more difficult as the file structure is changed. Run a Complete Format Recover of the "physical drive" and search for the default selected file types.
In the results screen, look in Folder View for the missing files - any encrypted or protected files will be shown in green. If you dont see them then I am afraid RMF will not be able to recover these files.
