Default recovering file problems

I went in and grabbed all my mp3s and my photos.
I had one out of 6 mp3 folder of songs that wont play.
the song and the files sizes are there but they won't play.
my photos on the other hand had about a 15% recovery .
what can I do now...

got a malicious ad ware program
used spy bot search and destroy,ad aware and hijack this to delete the program files.
somehow it deleted my tcp/ip settings

couldn't go back in time to a safe point.

did a system restore recovery

couldn't read my 160 gig maxtor drive.

pulled drive

put drive into a enclosure in the hopes it would read a usb

it didn't

ran the bios to see if it would register the size of my 160 gig maxtor.

accidentally ran bios on c as the test wouldn't read the usb.

did a full format recovery on c

ran a full system recover my files and it showed up my drive

purchased program and ran another full system recover and came up with 25 out of 250 pictures that showed and 5 out of six mp3 file folders that played.

You need to try two different approaches and your drive has had some serious issues.

Make sure you have the latest version of Recover My Files from www.recovermyfiles.com or click on the UPDATE button on the main program screen to make sure it is current.

Approach 1

Try running the "Fast Format Recover" and if this does not work the "Complete Format Recover" on the "phsyical drive" for the default selected file types ONLY.

The Format Recover searches find lost files by using the Operating System MFT records (the MFT table at the start of the disk tells your PC where the files are located). At the end of the search the RMF results screen with switch to Folder View to display your results with full file and folder names.

Your drive sounds a bit screwed up so you may not get all your files back as some of the MFT records may be corrupt or destroyed.

Approach 2

Run a Complete File Search of the physical drive for the specific file types (try not to search for more than 10 at a time to ensure search speed). This search will find files by their header and footer. Because the file name is stored only in the MFT record, this search will not find the original name but will call the files "Recovered...".

Please note that in both types of searches, even whilst the search is in progress, you can click on the files found in the Recover My Files results screen to preview their content.

I hope this helps.

the drive (maxtor 160) hasn't had any problems.
It's the drive I'm trying to get the info off of.

I don't know why the recovery on the primary hard drive xp files messed up the connection read so badly.

I did nothing to my maxtor drive. it had three partitions, two of them with game programs and music and pictures. the third partition had nothing on it and for some reason after the recovery of my primary drive, the primary drive would only recognize that sector(31.5) as being the size of the hard drive itself and it was showing it as raw data needing to be formatted which of course I would not do because I hadn't done anything to that maxtor drive.....

Did you try the two different recovery approaches? What were the results?
