Default something very wierd

Hi,

There is something very wierd that happens when I try to recover my files.
I have a 200Gb Maxtor external HDD. One fine day, suddenly windows could not recognize the external HDD (maybe cause my hard disk fell a couple of times and so mustve screwed up the partition tables or something).
Either ways, I ran the Recover My Files software (under the recover format option). After 15 hours, it shows all the files that were there on that HDD (the files were all .avi, .mpg, .mpeg, .wmv - basically only video files). I selected all the files and tried to recover them onto my friends computer (by mapping his drive first). When I tried to access the files that I saved, there are only file names. ALL the files are 0 bytes big (basically none of the ACTUAL data got saved, only the file names were saved). Why is that happening? Am I supposed to do something special while saving the file? Please help. The data is quite important and I need to get it back within a couple of days.

Thanks.

Data Recovery - 0kb save

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The issue of saving 0kb files has been isolated to a pirate "cracked" version of Recover My Files. We take the piracy of our software products very seriously. If you are not using this version contact support and provide your purchase reference information. If you are usuing this version then you are very brave to post your message here.

Never mind. I found the above post. I can't believe I actually bought the software from someone who was selling it for $15 (it was in a nice packed CD and case). What a f***ing moron I am. Sorry for the inconvenience.
PS: do I have to buy the software and receive it by mail or can I order it instantly online or by phone?

Thanks

Default Maxtor Drive Recovery

Please try this version and run a Fast Format Recover. It should be able to recover your files in less that 15 minutes:

http://download.getdata.com/3-50beta/recovermyfiles.exe

You can purchase a product activation key on-line at www.recovermyfiles.com.
