Hi,
My friend deleted her image folder from windows. I have placed her drive into my external drive enclosure and I need to recover files from that specific drive. How do I specify which drive for the recovery to take place??? |

Hi,
It is a good idea to connect the problem drive to another computer. As a secondary drive it greatly reduces the chance that Windows will write to the drive and ******ially overwrite and destroy deleted data. Please download Recover My Files from www.recovermyfiles.com and install it onto the C: drive of the computer. Run the program and select "Complete File Search". Click NEXT. In the drive selection window you should see the secondary drive listed as a drive letter? eg. D: or E: Put a tick next to the drive letter to search the drive. Click NEXT. In the file type selection list, select the file types that you know were in the folder (try not to select to many files or you will slow the search down). The search will run in two parts - the first part will quickly find the deleted files and folders and you will see full file and folder names. The second part will look for files by their header and footer - files found this way will be called "Recovered_Filetype_X". Whilst the search is taking place your can click on the files found in the results window to display their content in the preview window. If you see the files you are looking for you can stop the search and save them. However before you do this, note down where the search is up to in the progress window - ie. "searching xxxxxxxxxx of xxxxxxxxxxx". You can then start the search where you left off by clicking on the OPTIONS button and in the ADVANCED tab put a tick in the box for "prompt for start cluster...". So next time you start a search it will ask you for the starting point. I hope this helps.
