Hi,
If you have not written new data to the card then the files should still be intact and recoverable. Try using Recover My Files (www.recovermyfiles.com) to run a Fast Format recovery on your SD card. If this does not work, next try a Complete Format Recover searching for the default selected file types. Please let us know how this goes. How big is the SD card?

I'm running the complete recovery scan right now, with the default settings.
Looks promising as it already found several jpgs, but unfortunately none of the important pdb or set files. So far it found 170 files and 530 O/S items, whatever they are. The card is 1GB in size, and no I have not written to it, so keep fingers crossed. I've searched everywhere, but no software supports these filetypes. My aim is to get back the BackupMan file since this is an image of my Palm's RAM (26MB ), getting this back I would get back everything. The rest of the files on the card I can live without. So far I've tried several other software, but without any luck, mainly they've only dealt with maintstream files and not good at those either, naming jpg to exe, etc.. |

Scan completed.
Found zillion files, even some pdb and even the BackupMan.prc, which makes the RAM image into an set file, but unfortunately no set files found at all, even though there should be at least 4, 5 of them. One other thing: the scan didn't find any MP3, though there were some and even other softwares were able to find them. The other thing is that the scan only found files not more then 10MB. Could this the problem? as the set files are roughly 25MB files. Am I doing something wrong or shall I just give up and say good bye to my backups? |

Did you check both in File View and Folder View of the results screen for your files?
If you have not written anyting to the card then the files are still there and should be able to be recovered. As the card is only 1gb the easiest thing to do would be to get you to make an image of they card that you can upload to us. Go to www.getdata.com/download.php and at the bottom of the page under forensic software download EzyImager.exe. Run this program and take a copy of the "physical drive" and write it to a file on your PC called card-image.raw. Once you have this file, compress it with WinZip and let me know how big it is. Thanks.

I've checked in both views, but nothing. Partially ran other scans, now ticking in mp3 as well, with which now I can see mp3 files as well.
As suggested I'm preparing the disk image, however wouldn't it be easier if I get you a sample .set file to you so you can - as suggested in other posts - to examine its header and footer and provide support for this type of file as well. This I guess would make things easier and quicker. Please let me which way to proceed. Thanks for all the help |

Hi,
Getting sample files is good, but getting the sample files in an image of a real live data recovery situation is much better. It helps us understand exactly how a spcific file is written to a disk - particularly a large one which can be fragmented. As you problem relates to a small storage media (i.e. your SD card) it is much more practicle for us to get an image of it to try and help you.
