Hello,
Found "Recover My Files" by accident and was at first a bit skeptical about it. After a trial run I immediately made the purchase. SITUATION: My external drive connection (Maxtor 1394 Firewire ) is seen by WinXP and the WinXp Disk Manager indicates the drive is in good condition. I too am receiving notices that the drive must be reformatted. Second time in two years. "Recover My Files" finds all the info on the drive since the previous reformatting PLUS info that was on before the reformatting. Info I was told was not recoverable. A great program!!! QUESTION: I have several programs installed and run from the external drive. Running "Fast Format Recover" finds the complete disk tree including the installed program files, system files etc. Once I save the tree to my primary computer copy it over to the external drive, can I run the programs without reinstalling each of them? Thanks, Tom |

Hi,
The answer to your question is yes, but we don't recommend it. It is best to reinstall all application from their original disks. Recover My Files will will restore all the files and folder structure that you see in the Recover My Files results screen. However, when trying to recover installed programs, you can never be sure 100% that all files needed by that program are 100% recoverable - for example, a program .dll file could have been overwritten and destroyed and therefore not appear in the Recover My Files results screen. For this reason we say that Recover My Files is a data recovery tool for your user created files and that you should reinstall your software from the original disks.
