Greetings! I need some help with a rather weird problem I have at the moment
![]() I chanced upon your site while trying to find a solution to my hard disk that has suddenly changed to a RAW file system after a reboot (previously it was NTFS, and working fine). After downloading and trying your program with the "Complete Format Recover" search option, several files were found. However, the file names are all set to "Recovered [file type]". Is there any way to recover the original file name? Also, is there any way for 'RecoverMyFiles' to change the current RAW file system to it's original NTFS? And lastly, should I reformat and reinstall Windows on that hard disk before using 'RecoverMyFiles'? Thanks, and any help or advise is much appreciated! |

Hi,
Do not format or reinstall windows. Please use Recover My Files to run a Fast Format Recover. Search the physical drive and let me know what results you get. I would expect this search to find all your files with full file and folder names. This search should take less than 45 minutes hour to run. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply!
Sadly, Fast Format Recover is unable to find any files. The "Search Progress" dialog box shows "Partitions Found:" as none, zero. It runs fully through Method 1 and 2 while searching for partition entries. Perhaps some additional information on how my HD came to be might help? I ran an .EXE file which I recently downloaded from SourceForge, and a WinXP blue screen of death pop'ed up claiming a "Page Fault" error. Upon reboot, my hard disk's file system became RAW from the previous NTFS. I'm currently running on my second hard disk, and Windows Explorer prompts me to format the RAW HD whenever I click on it I'm truly lost as this is my first encounter with such a problem. Are there any solutions to recovering my hard disk fully? Last edited by AceRodent; 04-28-2007 at 05:18 PM. |

Ok.
I need to you to run a "Complete Format Recover" again. This time, in the drive selection window, select and search the "physical drive" (you should be able to tell which one it is by the size). In the file selection window, search only for the following file types, .doc, .xls, .ppt, .avi, .bmp, .jpeg, .zip, .pdf. Let this search run for 1 hour and then tell me what the numbers say in the progress screen, i.e. Files Found = xx and OS Itmes Found = xx. Thank you.
