I am using Recover My Files to recover data from a reformatted hard drive. The drive had no operating system and was not written to before I started the recovery. The question that I have concerns the analysing file system fragment process. The initial recovery finished, but it took forever as I did not read the helpful hints regarding file types first. Is this part of the process affected by the file types selected as well? Also, it seems to have found most of my data, however no names were associated. Does the file system analysis actually help identify folders and names, and if not, what exactly is this part of the process doing since it doesn't seem to be finding any new files?
Thanks. |

Hi,
The "analyzing system fragments" part of a Format Recover (it happens toward the end) is the most important part. This is where the lost/deleted partitions are rebuilt and all the file name and folder information is reconstructed. Make sure you let it finish. In the results screen look either folder view to see your all your recovered files, or in "File View" look inside the "Recovered Partition" folder. |
