this is a laptop with one partition.
the user reformatted and reinstalled vista but wants pictures back. so question 1: there is no "other" drive to install RMF to, I can't use USB drive to install RMF on. So how do I do this? question 2: I'm confused about choosing c drive (if i am trying to restore from a formatted drive) or drive 0 or 1? |

Recover My Files (www.recovermyfiles.com) is only a very small program (less than 10mb), so by installing it to the problem drive there is only a very small risk of overwriting and destroying important data. Vista has already been installed fresh on this drive, so I would just go ahead and install it on the C: drive.
If there is only one storage device connected to your pc (i.e. the primary hard drive) then you should only see 1 physical drive. In your case you can either run a Complete Format Recover on "0 Physical" or the C: drive.
