Default recover unusual files

Hello. I formatted a removable drive by accident. The files that were on it are not the usual variety though...the are .fs files...or flexisign files.

Does anyone know if they can be recovered using this software?

oh yeah...and I may have deleted the partition first before formatting it....cant remember...but that is what I usually do when do a clean install of xp.

thanks in advance...Vicki

Default Data Recovery

Were there any other file types at all on this drive?

If you run a "Complete Format Recover" of the drive and search only for the default selected file types, at the end of the search the program should rebuild the whole file system and you should be able to find your .fs file in folder view of the results screen.

Yes...there were many other kinds of files....corel draw, adobe photoshop, illustrator, etc...etc...but the flexisign are the ones I most concerned about. When I did a preview run...it was showing alot of stuff that looked more like windows files, though...which i dont need-also, the names didnt match up to anything I was looking for...

The drive has a non-working windows xp install on it..(that's how this whole mess happened. ) so I know any files that were located in the same place are not recoverable...but I'm wondering, does the software bypass the files that arent lost? meaning, the xp install that is still there?

Thank you for your attention to this matter....I really appreciate it...Vicki

Since this is on a maxtor one touch (external usb drive) and the pc Im hooking it up to is an xp pro machine (only 1 hdd) Do I save the "rebuilt file system" to my hdd in a folder (?) then I can move it all back to the maxtor? (there is nothing wrong with the maxtor other than my re-partition, format, and xp install.

thanks again...sorry to seem so panicky...I just am!

Vicki

Default Data Recovery

When you run a Complete Format Recover:
  • search the drive letter, e.g. E:\ and it will search the empty part of thhe drive only
  • or search the "physical" drive to search the entire drive.

Search for the default selected file types only and at the end of the search it will rebuild the old file system and display the results in Folder View of the results screen.

Select what you want to save and then save the results back to your C: drive. Once your are SURE that you have saved everything you need (and tested the saved files on your C: Drive to make sure that they open correctly) then you can copy the data back to your problem drive.

I hope this helps.
