Hi all,
I have got a 400Gb hd. I recently installed XP again without SP2. what happened is that XP (without SP2) only knows how to use 128Gb hd. so the Xp changed my 400 into 2 partitions. one 128Gb and another that is called <unallocated memory> When I tried to acces the disk it told that it is not formatted and offered to format it, I of course refused. After I installed SP2 the partitions remained the same. How can I make the whole disk be a 1 partition again without loosing all the data on the disk (before i reinstalled i had a lot of data on this disk). Is there a tool to fix it? Thank you ![]() |

The best and safest way is to first try and get all your important data off the drive. Once you have done that, you need to start the drive setup again using XP service pack 2 which is required in order for the operating system to see past 128gb.
In you situation you can use Recover My Files (www.recovermyfiles.com) to run a Complete Format Recover of the "physical" drive. This should find all your files and display them to you in "folder view" of the results screen.
