Hey,
I am trying to recover my 80gigs worth of music on my WD 500g external drive. I've tried Recover My Files and Active Undelete. Active Undelete shows every file on my drive ok but all my folders containing music have a ? over them (per help file those are "service files"). Recover My Files shows these folders but with a X over them. I am unable to find any info on what that means in the help file. All of my music folders still have playlist files, covers, nfo files, and mp3s with correct names. I am unable to read any of them. I'm assuming the ? and X are a crucial point to my problems but what do they mean? And why are my music folders/files (the only ones i'm concerned of restoring) the only ones listed with those. I am doing a "full" scan now so maybe that will help. Any info would be appreciated, thanks! |

Hi,
The red X in the search results of Recover My Files must just means that the folder was deleted. Can you please tell me exactly what happened to your drive and then I will tell you the best type of search to run to get your files back. Thank you.

Nothing special was done. I was backing up all my music to my 500gig drive but then ran out of space on it because of 264 files. So I went in myself and just deleted all the music (had a folder called 'music' with subfolders containing all of my albums). I let the search go on overnight and I'm seeing files have "overwritten" on them.
I'm running the programs via a microSD card and trying to recover on a WD 500g external drive |
