Hello,
It is my first time at the forum - I enjoy it very much. I hope someone would give me a help. I already know how to use 'Data recovery software' (relatively). Actually, I know it until the moment they are saved on a safe place (another drive than the one lost). Currently, I am in the process of recovering data from unintentionally formated drive. Now, I am awaiting for finishing the process of recovery (I think - about 2 hrs more). Many files are recovered until now. But, previeving some of them (especially 'text' files) I have noticed that some of them look like divided into several parts. Now, when I save them into a directory at the safe drive I would probably not read them - as a one opened file would have been only a part of original file. Am I right in this issue? If my concerns are correct, what should I do next, after saving recorvered files at the safe place? Do I need any other program to 'integrate' divided files? If so what program is recommended? What should I do after saving recovered files? Thank you in advance and best regards, Witold |

If you have formatted your drive then you should be using the latest version of Recover My Files, v3.73 to run a "Complete Format Recover". If you have a new drive letter, search that, if not , search the "physical drive". In the file type selection list use only the default selected file types. Do not add more file types to the search. TXT files are not a good option to search for as any partially overwritten file will be returned as Text. I suggest that if you have ttxt files currently selected then whilst the seardch is in progrress, click on the OPTIONS button, go to the file types tab, and take the tick our of TXT files. Then click OK ot continue the search.
At the end of the search your old partition witll be rebuilt. The program will switch to "folder view" and show you the results with full file and folder names. |

Well,
Thank you so much for your replay. My version of RMF is 2.14 and I am able only to recover single files. Moreover, recovered files are divided into parts. Until now, the program finished saving recovered files (type: Text, MP3, EMF; total 14950 files) - which is only a part of lost data. It took about four and half of hrs to proceed with recovery, plus some 1 hour for saving recovered files to another physical drive (total capacity of recovered files is about 3 GB). Format of saved files is like: '...\Recovered_Text_7108.txt' (simillar applies to MP3 files). Checking MP 3 music I only hear a part of a song that is saved in the above format (Using Windows Media Player). Currently, the program is searching for Word, Excel, and PPT files at the lost drive - this is new task. However, reading just your message, I understand that I am probably wasting time. As it is late tonight I would better leave RMF as it stands for the rest of night. Maybe it will find some lost Word Office files. In the morning I will think about newer version - as you suggested. Is it possible to upgrade my current version of R-M-F? Where should I go to do so? Thanks, Witold |

Please update to the latest version of Recover My Files, Version 3.80, from www.recovermyfiles.com. This will solve all your problems and you will get you data back.
