Hi to all, hoping that you are a smart bunch
![]() Been trying for months to recover a VERY important word document, scanned hard drives etc. but just came across a USB pen drive. Scanned it using Recover My Files which I have always found amazing although on this occasion the file is classed as in "very good" condition but its like this......t ᑝ 0P X&!`8TKē` when opened Is the document overwritten and corrupt rather than "very good"? Any replies warmly welcomed and thank you in advance. Px |

Hi,
It look like the document has been overwritten and is corrupt. Change the extension of the doc file to .txt and open it in Notepad. Scroll through the file and see if you can see any valid text inside it. If you do, you can copy and paste the text out of it.

Hi GDH,
Thanks for your time and advice. Did what you said but got lots of squares, tried every conversion option in Office XP but still get hieroglypics. On another drive (laptop which was removed and used as an external to save it being written to) I got part of the document, 70 out of 400 pages so I guess thats better than nothing although the document was on that drive in full so no idea what's eaten it! Guess the last chance of getting document back has just vanished. Oh well I'll keep the laptop drive and USB pen, never know, in 10 years time something might make it readable lol. Px |
