Default Seems to be taking so long

I just downloaded the software and am running it on my (other) computer.

One of my disks failed - Windows recognises it but marks it as "unreadable".
The disk is 40GB.

I am running the Full Format Restore as the Fast returned nothing.

I started it running 12 hours ago and it seems to have hardly moved.
The count shows approx 2 mill out of 78 mill (I assume sectors).

I am running Win XP Prof SP3

Computer is a Pentium 4, 1.300 GHZ, 256 RAM

I could move the disk to a faster computer if required.

Default Data Recovery

Hi,

How many file types did you select in the search?
In a Complete Format Recover you need only to select the default file types: .doc, .xls, .ppt, .jpeg, .bmp, .avi, .pdf, zip.

What does it currently say in the progress window for "Files Found = xxx" and "OS Items Found = xxx"?
If the OS Items has got to a high number and has remained stable for 10 minutes, then press the stop button and let the search results build.

Thx for the reply.

I used the default selected list for the file types.
Was that too many?

Also, I forgot to mention that so far it has found nothing.

Now been 16 and a half hours.

If the numbers are advancing does that mean it is at least managing to get to the disk and read something?

Default Data Recovery

It sounds like Recover My Files is not able to read the drive at all.

Click on the "Live Support" button in the top right hand corner of this screen so I can chat with you.

Thanks.
