I just downloaded the software and am running it on my (other) computer.
One of my disks failed - Windows recognises it but marks it as "unreadable". The disk is 40GB. I am running the Full Format Restore as the Fast returned nothing. I started it running 12 hours ago and it seems to have hardly moved. The count shows approx 2 mill out of 78 mill (I assume sectors). I am running Win XP Prof SP3 Computer is a Pentium 4, 1.300 GHZ, 256 RAM I could move the disk to a faster computer if required. |

Hi,
How many file types did you select in the search? In a Complete Format Recover you need only to select the default file types: .doc, .xls, .ppt, .jpeg, .bmp, .avi, .pdf, zip. What does it currently say in the progress window for "Files Found = xxx" and "OS Items Found = xxx"? If the OS Items has got to a high number and has remained stable for 10 minutes, then press the stop button and let the search results build.

Thx for the reply.
I used the default selected list for the file types. Was that too many? Also, I forgot to mention that so far it has found nothing. Now been 16 and a half hours. If the numbers are advancing does that mean it is at least managing to get to the disk and read something? |

It sounds like Recover My Files is not able to read the drive at all.
Click on the "Live Support" button in the top right hand corner of this screen so I can chat with you. Thanks.
