I have a xd 1.25 gig memory disk from a digital camera. Data was lost on it. How? I am not sure. I ran your software and it did not find not even one file.

Is there a special setting for digital camera memory cards?

thanks for any assistance.

Hi,

No, there is no special setting.

When you got to the drive selection window of the program, were you able to see your camera card listed as a "physical" drive?

Default yes

Depending on the search option I picked, I was able to see a physical drive and a drive with drive letter.

Also, this is not a defective disk. Still works in digital camera.

What could cause data to be erased AND to be 100% unrecoverable?

Default Data Recovery

Some digital cameras have a format command which actually erases the camera card by writing 0's over the entire card. It is not that common, but would explain why you are not getting your files back.

You can test this by doing the following:

Go to GetData Download Center: Data Recovery, File Repair and Windows Software and you will find a program called EzyImager. You can use this program to take an image of your camera card and store it as a file on your computer. The image will be the same size as the camera card (e.g. a 2gb card = a 2gb image). If you then use WinZip to compress the image file and it greatly reduces in size (e.g. down to 1mb) then you will know that the image if virtually empty, as all the 0's get compressed. If there are photos on the card the files will not compress much at all.

Let me know how this goes.

Thanks.
