I am running the Complete Format Search on my HDD that was failing. My computer indicated that the drive had 0 bytes used, 0 bytes available, and 0 bytes capacity. I suspect the MFT was corrupted.
The strange thing is the search has been running for 16 hours now and is only halfway done. I would like to save what progress I have so far in case of a power outtage or something like that... another 16 hours is a very long time to hope nothing goes wrong. Is it possible to stop mid-search, save what you have and continue where you left off? |

Hi,
It does not sound like your drive is being correctly recognized by your PC - so I suspect that Recover My Files may not actually be able to access it. In the progress window you should see "Files Found = xxx" and "OS Items Found = xxx" - if these numbers are zero, then its not working. Above the progress bar you will see a number that the search is up to - e.g. "Searching xxxxxx of xxxxxxx". Note down this number as the starting point for a new search. Now press the stop button and let the search results rebuild. When you get to the point where you want to run a new search, first click the OPTIONS button and in the ADVANCED tab put a tick in the box for "Prompt for Start Cluster" and then when request, enter the starting position. I hope this helps.
