Default Partition Recovery of 1 TB Hdd

Hi

I am trying to recover data from a 1TB External USB Hard Drive. It somehow lost it partition.

I have started the Complete Format Recover with only the defaults as suggested in other threads. It has been running for a week now (7 Days), Last i check this morning before work it had found 99539 and 3247071 O/S files and I had been monitoring the O/S files to see when they stabiles to stop the process of searching.... The number had kept growing....

When I got home this evening I see a out of memory notice. I am running Version v3.98 (6081) on a LAptop with Vista Business with 2GB Ram and 2.17Ghx CPU.

I had to stop the application because the Recover my Files Program had frozen.

When I checked before end tasking it the system had 23kb memory free...

Any suggestions? I was thinking of running it on my work laptop but the spec is more or less the same i.e. 2GB mem and 2.4Ghx CPU...

Last i checked before the drive lost it's partition it only had about 300gb used on the 1TB drive...

Please help

Thanks

Vernon

Default Data Recovery

Hi,

It sounds a bit odd! and I am not sure what could have caused it.

Please run the Complete Format Recover again - and this time when the OS Items gets to 100,000 (which should be in a few hours) click the stop button and let me know what type of results you then get in Folder View.

Hi Graham

I am not sure what i am doing wrong, I re ran the full format recover and stopped it when it got to 100000, it then completed the search and then i clicked to save the items.

It seemed to create Partion 1,2,3 - Allot of the partions seemed the same.

Based on the folder icons and file icons is seemed like it recovered the files correctly, but when i try to open the files after saving they seem to be corrupt.

On the most basic file type like *.txt the content seems like greek ?

Any ideas why the file are corrupt when the software shows then as ok?

I will run it for the 4th and possibly final time but not sure what to do differently... It's taking 1-2 days to do a "stopped" searching "recovery"

Should I narrow the search down to only NTFS to speed up the searching etc?

Why is it creating a number of partitions with similiar data?

Will it recover the original files date stamp? I am trying to combine the 3 partitions into 1 after the save but seem to have clashing file date stamps?

Please advise

Thanks

Vernon

mmm - the results are a bit strange.

Please contact me by clicking on the "Live Support" button in the top right hand corner of this window, or use the Live Support link at Get Data Back: Data Recovery, Email Recovery and File Repair Software and then I can chat with you and we can get to the bottom of it.

Thank you.
