Default question on folders and files

Somehow my files in one of my folders got "lost". I had one folder with multiple sub folders and nothing can be found. They are no longer visible on my hard drive thru normal means (search for file name, folder name, etc.).

In using your software the files show up as lost and most seem to be there. From what I can tell there is no name and no connection to a folder. Is there anyway to "reconnect" the folders to the files w/o manually going thru each file? Is this something someone else with the right expertise or software could do?

thanks

Hi,

What type of search did you run to find the files? Have you check in "Folder View of the results screen for the file and folder names?

For a file and folder structure to just disappear is usually an indication that the file system has become corrupt in some way. As recovering the file and folder structure depends on the integrity of these records, it is probably not likely in your situation that the file and folder names can successfully be recovered.

What type of files are they that you most need? There are programs available that will help you rename files. Please let me know and I can suggest some for you to try.

I did the complete file search but unchecked the deleted files since my files are there, just not linked to a folder.

The only folder in folder view said Lost.

excel, word, powerpoint, turbotax

Also how do I search for google sketchup files?

thanks

Please run a "Fast Format Recover" on the "physical" drive and then check Folder View of the results screen for your files.

Please let me know how this goes.

It just says Lost. Also I do not get file names.

I tried the software on my other computer and get file names and directories. But I do find a Lost directory that does not have file names.

Do you typically get no file/directory data on lost files but do get the file/directory data on deleted data?

It sounds like your file system has errors. I am not sure if you will be able to get the original file names back.

Please try a "Complete Format Recover" and follow these instructions:

Looks like I am not going to get my file names back.

Can anybody tell what FileZ files are doing on my computer? I am doing the full recovery and I am getting huge FileZ files. What do I need to open them up?
