Default Problem when recovering videos and ZIP files

I try your program to recover my deleted videos and zip files that are around 40 MB each. When the program finished recovering the files, I open the videos (RealVideo and AVI ) but an error message saying that I cannot play it, missing something or the video file is corrupted... Evrytime I try differents recovery file programs, it there is the same problem...

And the ZIP file too: I open it, but it says that it's missing files or it's corrupted...

Can you **** help me slove this problem please? Thanks I really appreciate it!

Default Data Recovery

Hi,

How exactly were these files lost? This will make a difference in telling you the best type of search to run with Recover My Files to try and get them back.

Thank you.

The best type of search to run in your case is a "Complete File Search" of the drive letter for specific file types.

First try with the default settings and let me know how it turns out.

Thank you.

does it matter if you recover the video files individually, or is it better to take the whole drive at once? I have been getting the same problem, but at 200gb it is hard to sit and wait for the whole thing to work.

You can recover them individually if you wish.

In the search progress window you can write down the sector number that the search is up to: i.e. "Searching xxxxx of xxxxxx". You can stop the search at any save what has been found so far. Before you start a new search, click on OPTIONS > ADVANCED and put a tick in the box for "prompt for start sector...." and then you will be prompted to enter the starting position for the next search.

thanks, thats real handy. Ok so ive recovered 80% of the drive. 2 important folders that i was working on the day before i lost the drive have dissappeared. The folders contain about 15-20gb so pretty easy to see they are not coming up. In a full scan they do not appear in the folder view. This full scan was for avi only (is that the problem???) In a quick scan they appear, but when i recover the video file (avi) it says it cannot play back the file. The format is not supported. The preview does not run, it says the files are too large.
Have i lost these files or still a chance to recover?

Default MPEG File Sizes

When I do a scan of my disk for lost files the MPEG files sizes reported are really large one of the is 88961036800kB there are others reported in this range, even this is 82Gb, this is not correct. My question is will I be able to recover this file even if the size reported is not correct. FYI I am using an eval copy.

Thanks

It is probable that your large MPEG file is fragmented - so Recover My Files has found the header, but not the footer. The file size is incorrect and it is unlikely that this file will be reocvered.

Usually recovering large files is best done using the Complete Format Recover option - which track the fragmentation of a file by using the Master File Table. If you use Recover My Files to run a Complete Format Recover - look in "Folder View" of the search resutls screen for the correct size recovered file.

Good luck.
