I logged out the machine and logged in as Local Administrator as a test to no avail. I'm going to guess that that might now prevent domain policies from being pushed in, though.

Anyway, I tried installing the version you posted earlier in this thread soon after I posted...There was the same behavior for all machines EXCEPT the XP machine.

It actually starts up (ie: gets farther than showing an icon in the task bar)! So, anyway, I started it scanning the disk. It's been over 8 hours and it still shows no files found.

Is it mostly affected because I'm having it scan a mapped (network) drive? I have to do this because the software will not run on the actual machine that has the disk with the files that need recovery.

Something that occurred to me just now...is RecoverMyFiles, like EasyRecovery (from OnTrack), affected by hardware RAID?

Thanks for responding!

You need to use the latest version available here http://download.getdata.com/RecoverMyFiles-Setup.exe

It is not possible to scan a mapped network drive. The software must have administrator rights on the local machine.

Re: not being able to scan a mapped network drive...You're right. I found this out after re-reading the help files and understanding better.

What is strange is that I could not get the latest version to open on the machine. All I would get is a "minimized" looking icon in the task bar- its only options were to minimize or to close...of which it would do neither. I would have to force the application closed.

What I found that was strange was that, when I first installed the older version, it would behave the same as the other versions (just an icon in the task bar)...that was last night. When I tried again late this morning, it opened and I was able to start scanning.

However, I got some address/memory errors after the scan. I am retrying the operation to verify if it was just a quirk. If it happens again, I'll try re-installing the most recent version.

Thanks.
