I had a Dell latitude D400 with a 80 GB hard disk.I had windows vista ultimate on it. Last week my lap top stopped working so i remove the hard disk and made it to an external hard disk. But when i connect the hard to the another lap top by USB, it shows unallocated. I want to know if there is any way to recover the files... or fix the hard disk?
Thanks |

Yes, you should be able to recover the files from this drive. I suggest you do this before you consider trying to 'fix' the drive, because if you make any changes to the drive content and they do not work you may end up making data recovery more difficult.
Download Recover My Files data recovery software from http://download.getdata.com/RecoverMyFiles-Setup.exe and first try a "Fast Format Recover" search on the "physical" hard drive. If this does not work, next try a "Complete Format Recover" on the physical drive searching only for the default file types. There is more information on this search in the first post of this forum. Thank you.

Thanks a lot, now it is being recovered...
Do you think if i put hard on another laptop it may work?I think maybe because i had windows vista on my drive so because of security windows made it in the way that disk cannot be mount by USB. It is just an personal idea ![]() |
