A couple days ago, I mistakingly deleted a number of files from my computer, and then emptied the recycling bin, having believed I had backed them up. Since that was not the case, I've been looking for a way to recover them since.
The most important of the files I deleted were my .docx files. I've scanned my computer with Recover My Files, having done both quick searches, and complete searches, and after doing both, I'm still unable to find most of my .docx files. Having read older posts, I know that .docx files are recognized as .zip files, yet I still can't find everything I need, despite the fact that these files were deleted 3 days ago. Am I doing something wrong? All replies are appreciated. |

Have you run a "Complete File Search" on the C:\ drive?
In the drive selection window, also include the "Recycler in the search. In the file type selection window, in addition to doc and zip, also select Unknown OLE. Let me know how this goes.

Just ran it.
Adding c:\recycler to the search didn't seem to have produced any results. So now I'm basically left with a bunch of .zip (329), and Unknown OLE (461). Looked through some of the .zip files, and the ones I felt were .docx files (as they had things with the word 'word' in it in the preview) turned up to be corrupt. The only .docx I did manage to recover was a temp. file that was created due to a power failure while i was using Word 2007. |
