How were the files lost?

How did you get them back?

What message do you get when you try to play a file?

If you download a program like Explorer View for Windows Explorer from File Viewer: Powerpoint viewer, plus Visio, DWG, Excel, AutoCad, PDF and more., does it play the file? if not, what can you seen inside the file - does it contain data or is it all 0's?

Default re:mp3

well i deleted them on my 1st harddrive accidently when reinstalling windows xp from vista,(thought i had them copyed over to 2nd harddrive) when serching complete hard drive it found all my files in tact with original name to the mp3 then just clicked save to and the install the whole 6gb worth of mp3 on my secound harddrive .when clicking on the files i wanted to recover there was a small X on the folders?but the programm recreated the original folders with the mp3 in them just as i had them before.
but just will not play as usual says missing codec which is strange?

please help cause the is my whole cd collection which i do not have here anymore since my brother has them back in germany
