Hi,
I am currently doing a complete recovery on a 300 gig drive. I have it hooked up to my main computer via a blacx dock. The problem is it is taking countless hours to finish. Is this normal? Also, if I stop it will it ask to save current state or will I have to restart it? Thanks for any answers. |

What happened to your drive, how were your files lost?

My GF had some issues with the OS and did an HP recover. It's basically a partition they have with some software that enables it to restore to the previous OS. The problem is it didn't prompt or let her know that it was going to wipe the whole drive with a fast format. It also didn't prompt for a backup. Ofcourse HP tech didn't know squat. I stopped the recovermyfiles program and it started to build the directory and its still going. I think I recovered my files so thats good. I gotta test them to see it its real.
One other thing, While doing the initial scan the log file was denoting errors of certain sectors. Are those just unrevoerable files/data or is ita physical error with the sector? |

The fastest way to run a search in your situation is to follow these instructions: http://forums.getdata.com/computer-d...ard-drive.html
The error don't necessarily mean that it was a bad sector - it just means our software had a hard time processing what it read on that spot.
