Default Ran chkdsk

Hi, new to the forum, wondering if anyone has ideas and the software here could help.

I recently ran the chkdsk utility on my boot drive w/ the repair errors automatically option (unfortunately, now in hindsight). I let the utility run, and saw that it was finding either bad sectors? or corrupt files and was subsequently repairing them automatically.

At the reboot, on the opening screen, it would say smartdrive detect hard failure, failure is imminent. I proceeded to reboot, and windows loaded up but now with the blue chkdsk scrn coming up and finishing whatever i guess it had to do. Went to the login screen, and proceeded to login.

now my computer took some time to go thru the standard bootup, but however this time as it was loading up, windows was alerting me that my internet security was turned off and basically what i found was that every load up/start up program (or or at least my browsers needed a file called urlmon.dll to run, or that it couldn't find that file (it may have been repaired, moved, deleted?).

But what i also found was some of my files were not showing up when i clicked the folder (i.e. mp3's, video files), i tried to use system restore but it would at first say it needed a specific dll file, but later on (on subsequent reboots), it would say that i didn't have enough space on the boot drive (though i know i had more than plenty of space). So i proceeded to find files that were still visible and presumably intact to my other hard drive (D I transferred about 2 to 3 gigs worth, and tried to use system restore, but it still said not enough hard drive space available. I looked on my computer, and saw that pie graphic showed minimal hard drive space, though i know for a fact that i had more than 70 gigs of free hard space prior to running the chkdsk utility.

If you're still with me, my question is can this program recover some of my mp3 files, video, docs, or what do you think may have happened as a result of the chkdsk utility and the subsequent loss of the urlmon.dll and being unable to even run windows media player. I really just want to recover what files i can, and start fresh. luckily i didn't run the chkdsk on my other hard drive, and still have those files.

Any suggestions, any input good or bad is appreciated, sorry for the rambling, but i just want to make it clear what exactly has been going. Thanks again, and hopefully i can recover some of my files.
