Default 1TB Unallocated MyBook

I have a 1TB My Book Essential that was my back up of all my data. I have lost all of it.
Here is the situation.
I had to do a system restore point on my Laptop, running Windows XP. I left the USB My Book plugged in. The restore point didn't work and i had to reinstall Windows XP.

When it came to hard drives, for some reason the My Book showed up as a partition and I like an idiot not paying attention, deleted it thinking it was the partition that Dell normally does on their laptops.

Now when i go to access My Book drive, it recognizes it but as an unallocated drive. Did i lose everything? Is this actually capable of getting this data back? Took it to Best Buy and no luck. Other option I was offered was a professional service, but was quoted from $300 up to $2500. YIKES.

I know this is a logical error and not a physical one...but is there any hope?

v/r,

Jim
