Recovering Mpeg by Recover My Files

Hello,
I am a new member and I say you all "hello"!

I deleted very important mpeg files (about 40 file for 250Gb) in my external HDD and later a copied on it a two mpeg files (about 8Gb). So far, after having done these "disasters" I started recovering the 40 original files using several tools. "Recover My Files" seems to be the most able to rich something.
The fast search by cluster didn't find anything. After a slow search at "cluster level" the program recovered 310 mpeg files. Most of those are about 600000000 Kb size. At this step I have many doubts:
why so many files? Why all files have almost the same size? And mainly, in your opinion, is there still some chance to restore and save part of my original files?
Please, help me in this tricky problem!
