Question The hard disk vanishes after few hours of RMF scanning.

Hi GDH and friends,
The hard disk red light was constantly lit, and when I saw in the explorer the HDD in scan was vanished.
Didn't even show in the windows Disk Manage.
I stopped my 5 days of scanning at around 70%.

So I restarted the PC.
The HDD and partitions came back, and I freshly set the RMF to scan.
Now after 4 hours I see that the HDD light isnt lighting atall.
And the HDD is again gone from the explorer.

It may come when I restart.
But , the RMF still shows the scanning progress.
Is it normal, or some problem?
good wishes, Ketan.

Hi,

Check the power options in the control panel to make sure the drive is not set to power down and go to sleep. Also check the USB configuration for the same thing.

Hi GDH,
Thanks, actually it was not the power options that were changed, it was the power cable that was loose.
Thank you. good wishes for you.
sincerely Ketan.

Default hi, what are these extra files?

GDH,
While the search in progress, why do I see two or three times the number of files that were actually stored by me on the drive? The drive is new. never accessed before.
for e.g. .avi files, that were not more than 250, are showing 470 in the found list. some have very small size.

Hi,

It is a bit hard to say without being able to have a look at your disk.

It is possible that your Master File Table was duplicated, so you are getting two lots of the same data.

Are you able to preview the files in the search results window?

Are you using the latest version of Recover My Files from Data Recovery Software to Undelete Files; Disk recovery; Recover Deleted Files
