I want to use my 250G drive again

Hi all, I run a Pentium IV 3.2Mhz Windows XP Pro S/P3, latest version of Recover My Files. My D:\ drive is a 250g Segate Barracuda 7200-10.
It worked well for a while then Windows would not recognise it. On boot it was detected in BIOS, Device manager told me that the device was working properly but in computer management the disc,indicated as dynamic, was indicated as unreadable. I rescanned the disc an number of times but no joy.The drive does not show up on My computer.
I purchased Recover My Files V4 in the belief that I could get to use my drive again. I have run it a couple of time and have managed to save some files, but me being a newbie, all I really want to do is to get to use my drive again.
So please advise whether I am on the right track!!!!!
