Gentlemen,
Woke up the other morning to find my Gateway laptop had restarted itself and had this error message on the screen: "Operating system not found." I'm not quite sure what this means, but I imagine that my hard drive crashed for some odd reason. So I got a hard drive enclosure, took it out of the laptop, and threw it in the enclosure. Hooked it up to my Sony Vaio, and it is being recognized as "HD DVD ROM" (I imagine that's what it is, because it disappears when I disconnect the 2 USB cables). However, when I start the search for files and such in RMF, the drives aren't showing up. Not quite sure what is going on. Thanks in Advance! |

Hi,
The "Operating system not found" message on bootup means that your laptop basically does not recognize the hard drive. When you connect it to the other PC, it should not be recognized as a "DVD". When you go into Windows Disk Management, what do you see? (right click on My Computer > Manage > Disk Management) are you able to get it to display as a physical drive here? If so, run a "Drive Recovery" on the physical drive using Recover My Files. Thank you.
