Default Recover data from 1TB internal hard drive time?

Hi,
I have a 1tb hard drive that im am trying to recover data from, I have selected the recover drive option and so far this has taken about 32 hours to scan the drive. It is now in the process of "starting analysis of found system fragments" which appeares to be taking a similar amount of time.

My qustion is, is this normal for it to be taking this amount of time?

I am runing the drive recovery from another computer using vista, with the problem drive as a slave.

Cheers
James

For such a huge drive, I think that's absolutely normal. If you have a lot of important files, taking 2 - 3 days is worth it.

Hi,

Part of the Recover My Files 'drive recovery' scan is a sequential scan over the lost drive looking for "Lost Files". In most cases, you do not actually need to do this.

Please watch the video here, or read the instructions (particularly the part in green) which talks about speeding up the search: Recover a Formatted Drive with Recover My Files v4

In your case the analysis part should not take very long (only a few hours a the absolute most).

Hi
cheers for the quick reply GDH, the drive is best part full and to date it has taken about 5 days to get 2/3rds of the way though the "analysis of found system fragments" Not the two or three hours you mentioned in your previous response. It also as far as i can tell seams to progressively be getting slower.
I did stop it though this process once when i first tryed the program, but all my files were named as Lostfile..... Any advice on what i should do? As im not sure it should be taking this long. Or should i just leave it and let it run its course?

Cheers James
